Greyhounds tangle with Tivy in district soccer

Boerne High clashed with Kerrville Tivy Tuesday and the defenses controlled the game in a couple of low-scoring matches.

The Lady Hounds won 1-0, and the BHS boys tied the Antlers 1-1. Boerne takes on Veterans Memorial and Smithson Valley next.

Varsity Boys

The Greyhounds and Antlers battled to a 1-1 tie Tuesday at BISD Stadium. It’s Boerne’s second tie in 26-5A and leaves them at 6-2-2 in district (8-3-2 overall).

BHS was at Veterans Memorial Friday and hosts Smithson Valley Tuesday.

Shae Gonzales had the team’s only goal on a corner kick that curved directly into the net without an assist. The Gonzales goal came with 16:25 left in the first half and tied it at 1-1 after the Antlers scored first.

Neither team scored in the final 56 minutes of the match.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Greyhounds won Tuesday’s defensive battle 1-0 with a second-half goal.

Bella Pettet recorded the only goal of the match.

Boerne is 6-3-1 in district (10-5-1 overall) and hosted Veterans Memorial Friday. They’ll visit Smithson Valley on Tuesday.
