Geneva girls advance to second round of basketball playoffs

SECOND ROUND PLAYOFFS Geneva vs. Austin Hill Country Christian at San Marcos Academy, Saturday, 1 p.m.

The Geneva School of Boerne girls team won their first-round playoff game against Rosehill Christian in a battle of Eagle squads.

Geneva ( 13- 19) defeated the Eagles from Rosehill, 39-30, to advance to the second round where they’ll face Hill Country Christian from Austin Saturday at San Marcos Academy, 1 p.m. Prior to that, the Eagles lost a warm-up game to TMI-Episcopal.

Payton Boles led Geneva with 16 points and Sopris Oglesby added 10 points and 10 rebounds in their first-round playoff game.

Amelia Morgan was one point away from double digits and finished with 9, while Reese Smith and Carlyle Harden both chipped in with 2 points.

Harden grabbed 7 rebounds, while Sopris Oglesby dished out 3 assists and came up with 5 steals.
