AUSTIN – The Boerne Champion girls swim/dive team repeated as state champions after they tallied 218 points to beat Frisco Reedy (190) for the 5A title Saturday in Austin.
Champion won six gold medals, two in relay and four individual gold, and picked up a silver medal to help secure the title.
Kate Canales and Cora Skoog both earned four gold medals, two in relay and two in individual events.
The 200-medley and 400-medley relays (Karly Whitehead, Canales, Addison Graham and Skoog) both set 5A state records to win gold.
Canales set two more 5A state records in her individual events, 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke, and was named the 5A swimmer of the meet.
Skoog picked up gold in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, while Whitehead earned silver in the 100 backstroke.
On the boys side, Will Harrison earned a couple of silver medals after he finished second in the 50 free and 100 free
