Chargers hold off Leander in first-round playoff game, Bobcats beat Sweetwater and both will play Friday

BUDA - Boerne Champion was clutch at the free-throw line during Tuesday's playoff game against Leander at Buda Johnson.

Champion went 6 for 6 at the line in the last minute and held off a late charge by Leander to win Tuesday's contest, 44-43.

Travis Clark shot it well for the Chargers and made seven 3-pointers to pace the team with 21 points. Nik Georgelos hit a couple of late 3s and made two free throws, while Gavin Peck was 4 for 4 at the line to ice the game.

The Chargers have won 10 straight games and advance to the second round Friday against Southwest Legacy at Littleton Gym at the Blossom Athletic Complex, 6 p.m.

Comfort High

The Comfort boys also won a close game in their playoff after the Bobcats defeated Sweetwater, 67-65, Tuesday in San Saba. Comfort is scheduled to play Holliday next and the two will clash in the second round Friday at Comanche, 6 p.m.
