Boerne High picked up three wins at last week’s Northside baseball tournament to post a 3-1 record at the event.
BHS is 4-1 overall and hosted Kerrville Tivy on Tuesday as they resume district play. They’ll play in the SA Classic this coming weekend for their second tournament of the year.
The Greyhounds opened last weekend’s tourney with an 8-3 win against Mission Sharyland and scored eight runs in its last two at bats.
Boerne returned on Friday and won a close one over Clark, 6-2.
Later that day, the Greyhounds took on Central Catholic and suffered their only loss of the tourney, 3-2, despite outhitting CC, 7-4.
The Buttons scored all 3 of their runs in the second for the 3-0 lead. The Hounds tried to rally and tallied single runs in the third and fourth frames, but that’s where the scoring ended for BHS.
Boerne closed out the event on Saturday with a 2-0 win over La Vernia. It was 0-0 until the top of the seventh when the Hounds pushed in both of its runs.
La Vernia was the home team and didn’t score in the bottom half of the inning. The Bears didn’t record a hit in the game as two Boerne pitchers, Ronnie Scarbrough and Caden Guerrero, combined for the no-hit shutout.
