Boerne High took on Smithson Valley Tuesday night in 26-5A soccer and the Rangers were able to defeat the Greyhounds in boys and girls action.
The Hounds played Boerne Champion Friday and will tangle with Alamo Heights on Tuesday.
Varsity Boys
BHS hosted the Rangers, but the home field advantage didn’t help the Hounds with the outcome after Smithson Valley rolled to a 5-2 win.
The Greyhounds dropped to 7-3-2 in district (9-4-2 overall). The boys were at Champion on Friday and host Alamo Heights Tuesday.
Tuesday’s win gives the Rangers six wins, while Champion also earned its sixth win as the teams head down the stretch run with about two weeks left in the regular season.
Kaden Teachout scored on the assist from Shae Gonzales, while Ramzy Handal knocked in a penalty kick to account for Boerne’s two goals.
Varsity Girls
Smithson Va l l e y snapped Boerne’s threematch win streak by defeating the Lady Greyhounds, 2-1. BHS closed the gap between the two schools after they lost to SV in the first round 7-0.
Boerne is 7-4-1 in 26- 5A ( 11- 6- 1 overall) and hosted the Lady Chargers Friday. They are at Alamo Heights on Tuesday.
Eliana Bove recorded Boerne’s only goal on the assist from Mahaley Merkens on Tuesday.
