Big innings by Wolverines helps them defeat Eagles baseball team

Geneva School of Boerne kept it close with the San Antonio Wolverines for a while on Tuesday, but the home school baseball team pulled away late with a big fifth inning.

It was 3-1 after four innings, but the Wolverines busted the game open by scoring 11 runs in the top of the fifth. When the Eagles couldn’t answer in the bottom half of the frame, the game ended with the Wolverines recording the 14-1 victory.

Geneva was 6-2 after Tuesday’s setback and is playing in the Devine tournament this weekend.

The Eagles struggled with control on the mound in that fifth inning and walked seven batters, gave up a triple and four singles and also hit a batter.

Five different Geneva players threw in the game with no one going more than two innings. Crockett Srp, Levi McPherson, TJ Cross, Mason DeLaune and Eli Arnold all tossed in the game.

Gray Bruner and Brady Chandler both singled in the game, while McPherson scored their only run in the fourth inning on a sac fly by Arnold.
