The crosstown rivalry continued last Friday between Boerne High and Boerne Champion in girls soccer.
BHS hosted the match at BISD Stadium and the Chargers were able to split their season series with the Lady Hounds after winning the contest, 2-1.
With the match knotted up at 1-1, Champion’s Macy O’Dell broke the tie on a penalty kick and put the Lady Chargers on top with the only goal of the second half.
It turned into the game-winning shot after the Lady Greyhounds couldn’t match it.
Bella Pettet knocked in Boerne’s only goal, while Lily Alejo tallied Champion’s other goal on the assist from Claire McClain.
BHS slips to 7-5-1 in district (11-7-1 overall) and the Chargers are right behind them at 6-5-1 (105-1 overall).
Champion hosted Pieper on Tuesday and visits New Braunfels Friday. They’ll play Wagner and Kerrville Tivy next week to close out district play.
Boerne was at Alamo Heights Tuesday and is off Friday. They host Pieper next Tuesday and close out 26-5A action at New Braunfels on March 13.
