County judge, commissioner headed for May 26 runoff; incumbents win remaining county seats

Two of three Kendall County Commissioners Court seats up for election Tuesday will go to runoffs on May 26 after no one candidate secured 50 percent or more of the votes cast.

County Judge Shane Stolarczyk captured 4,292 votes or 44.16% of the ballots cast in his reelecton bid.

He will face challenger Ricky Gleason, whose 3,979 votes accounted for 40.94%. Gleason trimmed Stolarczyk's 422-vote early voting lead to 323, but could get no closer in earning a spot in the runoff. Besa Martin tallied 1,449 votes (14.91%) in the judge's race.

Precinct 2 Commissioner Andra Wisian likewise heads to the May 26 ballot. Wisian, with 1,360 votes (47.8%), will face challenger J.C. Taylor (1,088 votes, 38.24%) in the runoff. A third candidate, Richard Elkins, drew 392 votes (13.95%).

Precinct 4 Commissioner Chad Carpenter easily outdistanced challenger Brett D'Spain, 1,542-841 votes, or 64.7-35.29%, for re-election to his seat.

Others being re-elected include Justice of the Peace Precinct 2's Dave Neighbors and Precinct 3's Debby Hudson, and County Treasurer Sheryl D'Spain.

The Election Department showed 13,169 votes cast – 33.04% of the county's 39,856 registered voters. Of those, 7,528 were cast in Early Voting, while 5,641 came in on Election Day.
