The Comfort High baseball team played in the Kenedy Tournament last weekend and won all of its games.
Comfort went 4-0 at the tourney and improved to 8-1-1 overall. The Bobcats were at Fredericksburg Tuesday for a non-district contest and then host San Saba in a doubleheader Friday at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Friday’s game with San Saba will be Comfort’s first at home.
Comfort opened at Kenedy with a 9-5 win over Agua Dulce.
The Bobcats fell behind 3-0 after the Longhorns tallied 3 runs in its first at bat, but Comfort answered with 5 runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Agua Dulce tied it up in the top of the second with 2 runs to make it 5-5, but the Bobcats plated 4 runs in the third to seal it.
Mason Matt had a double and 2 singles and scored twice, Matt Kemp tripled and scored, while Owen Schulze hit 2 singles, scored 2 runs and picked up an RBI.
Gunner Carpenter gets the win after going 3 innings and Schulze picks up the save.
Up next, the Bobcats edged Aransas Pass, 5-4, behind 6 hits.
Mason Matt had a single and a triple and scored a run, Cade Woerner smacked 2 singles and scored once and Owen Schulze doubled and drove in a run.
Woerner earned the win in 2.1 innings of work on the hill and Schulze picked up the save.
On Saturday, the Bobcats beat Santa Gertrudis, 12-1, in three innings. Comfort had 11 hits, including a home run by Gunner Carpenter, triples from Matt Kemp and Mason Matt, 2 doubles from Augie Diaz de Villegas and doubles from Dax Stehling and Mason Matter.
Matter was the winning pitcher and only needed 36 pitches in 3 innings to earn the victory.
Comfort closed out the tourney with an 8-3 win over Louise. The Cats pushed in 7 runs in the second to secure the win and only had 2 hits.
Four of those runs came on a grand slam by Mason Matt, while Mason Matter had the other hit in the contest for the Bobcats.
Zach Jones scattered 3 hits over 2.2 innings of work from the mound, while Nic Carlos closed it out on the bump.
