The Boerne High softball team jumped on the visiting Lady Mules early last Friday at Greyhound Field and rode that momentum to a 12-2 run-rule victory over Alamo Heights.

BHS was up 7-0 in the first inning and scored 5 more runs in its last four at bats to kick in the mercy rule in the sixth inning.

Boerne improved to 3-3 in district (12-3 overall) and will visit Pieper on Wednesday at 2 p.m. for its only game this week. They’ll host New Braunfels next Tuesday.

The Lady Greyhounds scored their 7 runs in the first inning with two outs. After the Mules retired the first two batters with a pop up and a ground out, BHS sent 8 to plate and pushed in a bunch of runs.

A two-run homer by Kenley Thomason, along with 5 singles and a walk by her teammates, made it 7-0 and put Boerne in control.

Thomason doubled in the third to bring in another run and an infield error that hit the Mules shortstop in the mouth allowed another run to score, and it was 9-0.

Boerne was on the verge of ending it sooner than it did, but the Mules fought back with 2 runs in the top of the fifth, and the lead was trimmed to 9-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, three straight fielding miscues by the Mules loaded the bases. Tessa Murphy singled to bring in the runner from third and then a sac fly by Brooklynn Thomason made it 11-2.

Just one more run would have ended it there, but the Mules retired the next batter to take it to the sixth.

The Mules went down in order with three straight ground outs in the top of the sixth and it went to the bottom half of the inning where the Lady Greyhounds ended it.

Addison Reidy doubled, a sac bunt by Bre Krause moved Reidy to third and then Lizzy Thornton closed it out with a sac fly to left to bring in Reidy.

BHS finished with 13 hits in the game and were paced by Kenley Thomason, who homered and doubled, picked up 3 RBI and scored 2 runs.

Reidy doubled and singled, pushed in a run and scored twice, Maddie Vasquez doubled, singled, scored 3 runs and picked up 2 RBI, while Murphy doubled and singled and pushed in a run.

Brooklynn Thomason collected an RBI, Riley Partin singled, walked and scored a run, Krause hit 2 singles, had an RBI and scored a run, while Leni Caldwell hit 2 singles, drove in a run and plated 2 runs.

Micah Bellamy went 6 innings in the circle and scattered 7 hits, gave up 2 earned runs, only walked 1 batter and struck out 2.
