26-5A softball
Boerne Champion dropped its last two softball games in a couple of close contests after the Lady Chargers were defeated by Pieper (4-2) and New Braunfels (5-4).
The Chargers are 7-6 overall and 2-4 in 26-5A. Champion played Pieper last Friday and moved up its game with NB to Monday and played at the Unicorns’ Field on Monday. They’ll visit Wagner on Thursday and then host Kerrville Tivy on Tuesday.

Last Friday’s game at Pieper was tied at 1-1 in the fourth frame, but Pieper pushed in 3 runs in the sixth to take a 4-1 lead. The Chargers fought back and plated a run in the top of the seventh on a Mylie Parker home run, but that’s where the rally ended.
Pieper took a 1-0 lead in the first, and it stayed there until the Chargers tied it in the fourth after a Parker single brought in Torin Tucker, who scored from third after a single, passed ball and sac bunt put her at third.
Two doubles, a single and a walk helped the Lady Warriors score their 3 runs in the sixth with only one out to make it 4-1. The Champion defense retired the next two batters to take it to the top of the seventh.
Parker’s homer cut the lead in half at 4-2 in the seventh, but two strikeouts and a liner to centerfield ended it from there.
Champion only had 3 hits, Parker’s home run and a single, while she picked up 2 RBI and scored once. Tucker singled for the other hit and scored a run as well.
Parker went six innings in the circle and scattered 4 hits, gave up 3 earned runs, walked one batter for the only walk of the game and struck out 7.
Pieper’s Harlie Massey fanned 7 Charger batters, gave up 3 hits and didn’t walk a batter to earn the win.
