Bobcats bully Bulldogs, 16-6

Comfort High scored in all seven innings during Tuesday’s baseball game with Bandera and went on to defeat the Bulldogs, 16-6.

The Bobcats are playing well and improved to 10-2-1 overall and hosted Poteet Friday.

The host Bulldogs made a game of it early and Comfort was only leading by a run at 5-4 after three innings, but the Bobcats blew it open starting in the fourth frame.

Comfort tallied 7 runs in the fourth and finished out the game by scoring 11 runs in its final four at bats, while the Bulldogs tried to keep pace but only scored two runs in their last four frames.

It was 14-6 going into the seventh and the Bobcats scored two in the top of the inning, so it won’t go down as a run-rule win since it went all seven innings.

The hit totals weren’t that different between the teams after CHS had 16 hits, and BHS totaled 11 hits.

Mason Matt swung the bat well and smacked 2 triples, 3 singles, scored 4 runs, took a walk and drove in a run.

Matt Kemp, Mason Matter, Cade Woerner and Owen Schulze all knocked out 2 singles, while Gunner Carpenter, Matter, Woerner, Schulze and Travis Gwaltney all plated 2 runs each.

Augie Diaz de Villegas walked 3 times, drove in 2 runs, scored once and singled, Kemp picked up 3 RBI and Matter and Schulze both walked 3 times and Matter pushed in 2 runs.

Carpenter started and went 4.2 innings on the hill, while Schulze tossed the final 2.1 frames. Carpenter gave up 9 hits, 4 earned runs, 4 walks and struck out 2 and Schulze scattered 2 hits, didn’t give up a run or walk and fanned 1.
