Boerne Champion closed out the 26-5A soccer season on a positive note after both Charger teams beat Kerrville Tivy last Friday.

The year continues for the boys after they were the only Boerne ISD squad to make the playoffs in 2026.

The Champion boys actually clinched with last Tuesday’s win over Wagner but the Chargers were looking to finish with a head of steam going into the playoffs and defeated visiting Kerrville Tivy on Friday, 1-0.

Champion begins the postseason Thursday, March 19, against Liberty Hill at Bob Shelton Stadium in Buda in the 5A-DII playoffs. The match starts at 7:30 p.m.

The Chargers finished the regular season at 14-8 overall and went 10-6 in district. Pieper (12-0-4), New Braunfels (12-2-2), Champion (10-6) and Smithson Valley (9-5-2) will represent 26-5A when they kick off the playoffs this week.

Liberty Hill went 8-4-2 in 25-5A and was second behind Rouse (11-1-2). Cedar Park (6-53) and Glenn (6-6-2) also made the playoffs.

The Chargers have plenty of momentum going into the playoffs and went 6-2 in the second round. They’ve won five of their last six and 8 of their last 10.

In Friday’s match with the Antlers, Evan Riebel tallied the only goal of the night that gave the Chargers the 1-0 win.
