It turned into a good spring break for the Comfort High baseball team after the Bobcats beat Bandera on Tuesday (16-6) and then closed out the week with a 13-0 win over the Poteet Aggies on Friday in 4.5 innings.
The Bobcats improved to 11-2-1 and visited Natalia on Monday and hosted Cole on Tuesday.
Comfort outhit Poteet 10-1 on Friday and after not scoring in the first two innings, closed out the game with 5 runs in the third and 8 in the fourth. The Cats batted nine in the third and sent 14 to the plate in the fourth.
Comfort finished with two triples in the game during back-to-back at bats in the fourth frame after Gunner Carpenter and Mason Matt both legged out triples. Matt also singled, walked, drove in 3 runs and scored twice, while Carpenter picked up an RBI and scored a run.
Cade Woerner doubled, took 2 walks and scored twice, while Owen Schulze doubled, singled, pushed in 2 runs and scored once.
Augie Diaz de Villegas collected an RBI, Matt Kemp finished with 2 hits and 2 runs scored, Mason Matter singled, scored and walked twice, Dax Stehling walked and scored, while Rhyder George singled, walked, had an RBI and scored 2 runs.
Matter went the distance on the hill and threw all 5 innings. He pitched well and only gave up 1 hit, no walks, struck out 7 and only needed 66 pitches to earn the win.
