Comfort High is on spring break and the baseball team picked up a couple of non-district games earlier this week and won both in dominant fashion.
The Bobcats defeated Natalia Monday on the road, 13-1, and then crushed Cole Tuesday at home, 25-1. CHS is off until Tuesday when they open district Tuesday at home against Florence.
Vs. Natalia
Comfort scored in the first five innings of Monday’s game and knocked out 9 hits, 5 of them doubles by 5 different players.
Cade Woerner doubled and scored, Dax Stehling doubled and drove in a run, Owen Schulze doubled, picked up 2 RBI and scored once, Rhyder George doubled and scored 2 runs and Travis Gwaltney doubled, singled and collected 2 RBI.
Mason Matt hit 2 singles and scored 3 runs, Augie Diaz de Villegas walked twice and scored 2 runs, Matt Kemp plated 2 runs, Gunner Carpenter singled, scored and drove in a run, while Mason Matter walked, picked up an RBI and scored a run.
Zach Jones tossed all 5 innings and gave up 2 hits, 1 run, no walks and struck out 4.
Vs. Cole
An 11-run first inning gave the Bobcats the fast start they needed. CHS added 3 in the second, 8 in the third and 3 in the fourth to get its 25 runs.
Comfort finished with 17 hits and sent 43 batters to the plate in three innings. Some of the highlights include home runs by Mason Matt and Rhyder George.
Matt also tripled and singled, collected 4 RBI, took 2 walks and scored 5 runs, while George picked up 2 RBI.
Matt Kemp tripled, scored 2 runs and drove in 2 runs, Mason Matter tripled, pushed in 4 runs and scored twice, Gunner Carpenter doubled, singled, knocked in 2 runs and scored 4 times, while Cade Woerner scored 3 runs.
Carpenter went 4 innings on the hill and scattered 3 hits and gave up an unearned run scored in the fourth frame, while he only walked 1 and struck out 5.
Matter closed it out in the fifth and didn’t yield a hit, walk or run and fanned 2.
