Charger boys finish third, girls are fourth at 26-5A track meet

Boerne Champion took part in last week’s District 26-5A track and field meet held at Smithson Valley and Pieper.

In the final tally, the Champion boys were third with 89 points and the Lady Chargers placed 4th with 90 points.

The top four from district advanced to Friday’s area meet at New Braunfels Canyon, while the top six at district earned team points.

Varsity Boys

Shawn Edwards won the 3200 (9:39), while Sebastian Carvallo (2:02.91) and Mason Nelson (2:02.99) went 4-5 in the 800.

Edwards also came in 2nd in the 1600 (4:27) and Brandon Martinez took 6th (4:33).

In the 4x100, Cal Isley, Hayden Fridley, Zachary Garcia and Brogan Dempsey combined for 3rd (42.10), while the 4x200 of Fridley, Garcia, Ryan McDonald and Dempsey came in 2nd (1:28) and the 4x400 of Jaxon Harbuck, Zach Smith, Hector Canales and Fridley finished 5th (3:26).

Brogan Dempsey placed 2nd in the 100 (10.57) and Zach Smith was 4th in the 400 (50.99), In field events, Korbin Buchanan (6-4) and Jaxon Barnes (6-2) went 3-4 in the high jump, while Ryder Flugence finished 4th in the long jump (21-1.25) and came in 3rd in the triple jump (45-5.25).

Varsity Girls

In field events, Maelee Mares won the high jump (5-2), Cassidy Breuer placed 3rd in the long jump (17-7.50) and Breuer was 3rd in the triple jump (35-9), while Lorena Barreiro- Bidot was 6th in the shot put (31-9.25).

Rebecca Bezerra finished 3rd in the 3200 (11:16) and Abigail Clark came in 6th (11:32) in the race, while Emma Radtke placed 5th in the 800 (2:19).

Payton Kidder was 3rd in the 1600 (5:00), Bezerra finished 5th (5:06) and Radtke took 6th (5:13).

Kinsley Graff (16.26) and Addison Davis (16.60) went 4-5 in the 100 hurdles, while Davis came in 3rd in the 300 hurdles (47.38).

Juliana Syroney won the 200 (24.92) and Syroney took 3rd in the 100 dash (12.23), while Michelle Cerna placed 6th in the 400 (1:00).

Lindsay Tompkins, Kinsley Graff, Mikayla Green and Juliana Syroney combined for 3rd in the 4x100 (48.89), while Thompkins, Graff, Michelle Cerna and Green placed 5th in the 4x200 (1:45).

Also, in the 4x400, Green, Ellis Conroy, Addison Davis and Michelle Cerna posted a 5th-place finish (4:07).
