The Boerne Champion softball team made its final home game of the season a memorable one after they defeated the visiting Wagner Thunderbirds, 16-0, in four innings behind 18 hits.
Senior Mylie Parker had a great night at the plate and in the circle and finished her career at Charger Field with two home runs, a triple and a double, 6 RBI and 4 runs scored, while tossing a one-hit shutout.
Brylyn Thornburgh knocked one out of the park and tripled, scored 2 runs and drove in 2 runs, Teagan Rogers legged out 2 triples and a single, picked up 2 RBI and scored 3 runs, while Aidan Kavanagh doubled as nine of their hits went for extra bases.
Torin Tucker slapped out 3 singles, had an RBI and scored 3 runs, Reese Rogers singled and scored, Anna Hurst knocked out 3 singles, drove in a run and scored once, Tatum Cruz plated a run and Emily Thomas singled and picked up an RBI.
Parker went all four innings in the circle and tossed a one hitter, while not giving up a walk and striking out 8 in her shutout performance on just 54 pitches.
The Chargers improved to 5-10 in district (10-12 overall) and closed out the regular season Friday at Kerrville Tivy.
Smithson Valley (14-1), Veterans Memorial (13-2) and Pieper (12-4) have the top three playoffs spots locked up, while New Braunfels (8-7) and Kerrville Tivy (8-7) were tied for fourth going into Friday.
