Three Comfort High golfers qualified for the Region I-3A golf tournament this week after their performances at the district tourney.
This year’s District 5-3A tourney took place at the Lady Bird Golf Course in Fredericksburg, while the second round was held in the Bobcats’ and Deer’s backyard at the Buckhorn course in Comfort.
Since Comfort is in Region I in most sports, they had to travel far to take part in the regional golf tourney. The boys tourney was April 13-14 at Live Oak Golf Club in Abilene, and the girls tourney was April 15-16 at Shady Oaks Golf Course in Baird.
Butch Godinez, Elizabeth Mulliniks and Matthias Toca all played at regionals for Comfort after Godinez shot a 161 (85-76) at district, while Toca was one shot back at 160 (80-80) on the boys side.
Mulliniks qualified on the girls side after she posted a 198 with rounds of 100-98 and was the third best individual at the District 5-3A Golf Tournament.
