Eagles win three district games last week

Geneva School of Boerne hosted Corpus Christi Incarnate Word last Monday in doubleheader action and swept the visiting Angels.

The Eagles also picked up a district win Friday at New Braunfels Christian, 12-3, to win its last three district games.

Geneva is 6-3 in league play (14-8 overall) and scheduled to play Corpus Christi John Paul II this week. The Eagles will play the Centurions Wednesday in Robstown, 2 p.m.

Geneva 12, IWA 2

The Eagles tallied 6 runs in the first inning and 5 in the second for the 11-0 lead before the Angels got on the board with 2 runs in the second to make it 11-2.

After keeping Incarnate Word off the board in the top of the fifth, the Eagles pushed in a run in the bottom of the fifth to end it.

Geneva knocked out 5 hits and took advantage of nine Angels errors.

Levi McPherson tripled, drove in 2 runs and scored 2 runs, Robert Jons singled and scored twice, TJ Cross picked up 3 RBI, singled and scored a run, Brady Chandler hit 2 singles, picked up an RBI and scored 2 runs, while Gray Bruner and Harris Priesmeyer both walked and scored and Josh Patteson walked twice.

Chase Doran picked up the win from the mound and threw 4 innings. He didn’t give up a hit, walked 3 and fanned 7. McPherson tossed the final frame and yielded a hit and no runs.

Geneva 16, IWA 1

The Eagles were leading Game 2, 6-1, but busted the game open with a 10-run fourth inning to end it.

Robert Jons doubled and singled, drove in 3 runs and scored 2 runs, Bryce Hanover hit 2 singles and scored 2 runs, Levi McPherson walked 4 times and plated 3 runs, Chase Doran singled, had 2 RBI and scored twice, Gray Bruner drove in 2 runs and scored once, Josh Patteson plated a run and Cole Davis walked 3 times and scored a run.

Hanover went 1.1 innings on the hill to pick up the win. He gave up no hits, 1 run, 5 walks and struck out 3, while Davis went the final 2.2 innings and yielded 1 hit, no runs, 1 walk and struck out a batter.

Geneva 12, NBCA 3

Chase Doran fanned 12 batters in 6.2 innings of work and only gave up 1 earned run, 8 hits and 2 walks.

Robert Jons closed it out on the mound and struck out a batter.

Geneva racked up a dozen hits and 4 of those were doubles after Bryce Hanover hit 2 doubles, scored 2 runs and picked up an RBI, while Brady Chandler doubled, walked twice, scored 2 runs and drove in 2 runs and Jons doubled, scored and pushed in a run and Josh Patteson walked and knocked out 2 hits.
