NEW BRAUNFELS — Boerne High track and field members competed at last week’s Area meet at NB Canyon where the top four athletes advanced to next weekend’s regional meet.
In the final team standings, the Lady Greyhounds were fourth with 63 points and the BHS boys were eighth with 27 points.
Regionals is set for May 1-2 at Heroes Stadium.
Varsity Girls
Bella Pettet won the long jump with a distance of 18-9 and Pettet posted a 26.19 in the 200 for fifth, while Mallory Miles took first in the high jump by clearing 5-4.
Presley Merkens and Sutton Amerman finished second and fourth in the 800 after Merkens ran a 2:15 and Amerman clocked in at 2:16.
Merkens and Amerman also pointed in the 400 after Merkens was third in 58.41 and Amerman finished fourth in 58.66.
Prisca Igbo and Averley Bruce went 5-6 in the 100 hurdles after Igbo posted a 15.61 and Bruce finished in 15.71.
Boerne’s 4x200 relay of Maddie Freeman, Bella Pettet, Bethanee Lozano and Victoria Varga teamed up for fourth with a 1:43, while Varga, Pettet, Ocean Valenciano and Prisca Igbo finished fifth in 48.65 in the 4x100.
In the last race of the day, Penelope Kirk, Amerman, Bruce and Merkens teamed up for fifth with a 4:02.
Varsity Boys
Aaron Garcia and Brayden Scott placed second and third in the 1600 after Garcia posted a 4:31.10 and Scott recorded a 4:31.13, while Garcia was also second in the 3200 with a time of 9:35 and Scott was eighth at 9:54.
Noah Blomqvist finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 1450, while Ryan Naylor and Cash Gatlin went fifth and sixth in the shot after Naylor threw 49-3.25 and Gatlin had a toss of 45-9.
