It was all hands on deck during Monday’s tiebreaker game in Fredericksburg between the Comfort and Blanco baseball teams.
Both teams used three pitchers as they went deep into their bullpens to try and win the game. The longtime rivals met to decide which squad would take the No. 1 seed out of 5-3A after they finished the regular season tied and split their two games with each other.
Comfort’s 11-1 win over Llano on Friday, coupled with Blanco’s 11-8 loss that same day to Ingram meant the teams shared the district title at 8-2.
They met Monday to decide seeding going into the playoffs and the Bobcats prevailed with a football-like score of 20-10.
CHS takes the No. 1 seed and opens with Merkel, while Blanco starts against No. 4 state-ranked Wall.
Bobcat coach Bryan Bishop says he prefers to look at it like they are co-champs with Blanco and Comfort is taking the higher seed. No matter how you look at it, it’s Comfort’s first district title since 2019.
