Six Boerne ISD athletes at 5A state tennis tournament this week

The 5A UIL state tennis tournament is scheduled for this Thursday and Friday in San Antonio and Boerne ISD will have six athletes participating – one from Champion and five from Boerne High.

Champion’s Alexandra Morris will open against Mariella Davies of Frisco Wakeland in girls singles on Thursday. The winner of that match will play Maya Diyasheva of College Station, who has a first-round bye.

The Greyhounds have three entries in three different categories at state.

Aidan Cebe qualified in boys singles and has a first-round bye. He’ll play the winner of the Adam Sparks (Colleyville Heritage) and Alois le Coz (Carnegie Vanguard) match on Thursday.

The Boerne’s boys doubles team of Gavin Cebe and Nick Dube also have a bye to start state and will play the winner of the McCall/Sides (Abilene Wylie) and Balachandran/Samman (Anderson) in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Justin Barraza and Paytin Johndrow are entered in mixed doubles and open with Wendt/Parvathaneni of Frisco Lebanon Trail.

All 5A matches are scheduled to take place at the NS Tennis Center in San Antonio at O’Connor High School.
