Comfort qualifies two for state in field events

Comfort had two track athletes qualify for state after Carter Pape won the long jump and broke the school record for the third time with a leap of 23-8.

Molly Gowan also advanced on the girls side in a field event after she was second in the high jump by clearing 5-2.

The 3A state track and field meet will be Thursday, May 14 in Austin on the UT campus.

Pape scored 10 team points after he won the long jump, Tyler Barteau was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 21-4.5 for four team points, while Aidan Weyel came in sixth in the shot put with a toss of 47-5.75 to pick up a team point for 15 total.

The Bobcats were tied for 11th in the final team standings.

Gowan tallied eight team points for her efforts in the high jump at 5-2 and also picked up two more points in the 100meter hurdles after she was fifth with a time of 16.50 to earn all 10 team points.

The Deer were tied for 18th in the final team standings.
