Comfort High capped a great baseball season and had several players earn all-district awards.

A total of 10 Bobcats were honored, basically all the starters, after Comfort claimed their first district title since 2019.

Two of the Bobcats earned superlatives after shortstop Mason Matt was named the District 5-3A Most Valuable Player and Gunner Carpenter was named the District 5-3A Pitcher of the Year.

Four more Comfort players made the first team and they were pitcher/ outfielder Mason Matter, third baseman Augie Diaz de Villegas, first baseman Cade Woerner and outfielder Matthew Kemp.

Catcher Travis Gwaltney, second baseman Rhyder George and designated hitter/first baseman Dax Stehling were named to the second team, while pitcher/outfielder Owen Schulze was named honorable mention.

Comfort finished their 2026 season at 24-7-1 and won the district with a 9-2 record. The Bobcats and archrival Blanco were tied for first at 8-2 at the end of 5-3A play after splitting their two games. They played a tiebreaker game that Comfort won, 20-10, to take first place and the top seed going into the playoffs.

Comfort defeated Merkel in the opening round and won the first and third games in that series. After that, the Bobcats met Jacksboro and were swept by the Tigers but were the last team standing from 5-3A.
