KCSO DEPUTIES SHOOT, KILL MAN AFTER BRIEF STANDOFF

A Kendall County man is dead after a brief standoff with Kendall County Sheriff’s Office deputies Wednesday morning.

Deputies responded to a call at 4:55 a.m. in the 100 block of the Bent Tree Subdivision after receiving calls about a make subject standing in the roadway in his underwear, brandishing a weapon.

While deputies were responding, dispatch advised that the caller reported the suspect, later identified as Austin Hodo, had fired a shot in his direction.

Within minutes of receiving the call, four Kendall County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived in the subdivision and located Hodo in the 100 block of Bent Tree, a gated community off Sisterdale Road, just past nineteen:ten church. Deputies made contact with Hodo, who was still armed. Despite numerous commands to drop the weapon, Hodo refused to comply.

As Hodo continued advancing toward the deputies, he raised the handgun and fired at them. In response, deputies discharged their firearms.

A sheriff’s office release said Hodo was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground. Deputies then made a tactical approach and immediately rendered aid. Hodo was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No deputies were injured during the incident. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
