Tapatio Springs hosts Tapatio Cup tournament

Tapatio Springs recently hosted its 2026 Tapatio Cup that featured Team Red against Team Blue.

The tournament format is like the Ryder Cup, where two teams of 30 golfers each (Blue Team and Red Team) play 2- man matches against other 2-man teams, with points awarded for each match. The team with the highest point total wins the Tapatio Cup title.

This year Brian Gaines and Pedro Heredia were team captains for the Blue and Red teams respectively. As playing captains, Gaines and Heredia then selected players from a pool of 58 other registered golfers to play on either the Blue or Red team. This year’s competition was again very close, with Team Blue taking the overall honor of winning the Tapatio Cup with a final point total of 292.5 to 276.5.
