Recent Comfort High graduate Mason Matt was named all-state by the Texas Sports Writers Association.
Matt was named to the TSWA second team as a shortstop. He shared the honor with Maddox McDonald, also a recent graduate who played at Shallowater.
Matt batted .567 and finished with a slugging percentage of 1.022. He hit three home runs, 11 triples, 10 doubles and took 31 walks, while only striking out seven times all season. The recent Comfort graduate scored 68 runs and stole 45 bases on 45 attempts.
Matt fielded .930 from the shortstop position and was a unanimous District 5-3A MVP. Earlier this summer, he was also named all-state by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association.
Matt helped guide the Bobcats to their first district title since 2019 and helped Comfort reach the second round of the playoffs this past season. He signed to play at Palo Alto College in San Antonio.
