The Boerne Champion volleyball team opened its 2026 season against two former district opponents and split their two matches earlier this week.
On Monday, Champion visited Kerrville Tivy and then on Tuesday, the Lady Chargers were at Pieper. Champion’s first home match won’t be until Aug. 25, because of work being done on the floor.
Champion (1-1) is entered in the Abilene Tournament this weekend.
Against Kerrville Tivy, the Lady Chargers fell in straight sets after the Lady Antlers won the match, 25-23, 25-21, 25-16, as Tivy increased its margin of victory with each passing game.
Brielle Boothe led the team with 11 kills and two aces, Brady Cooksey and Finley Weikle finished with 5 kills each, while Addy Menden came up with four blocks.
Cooksey added 10 digs and 22 assists to her totals and Hannah Perez had seven digs.
Against Pieper, the Lady Chargers bounced back to win in four games, 25-22, 22-25, 25-16, 25-21.
Brielle Boothe recorded 23 kills and 10 digs, while Finley Weikle added 22 kills and three aces. Brady Cooksey tallied two blocks, 13 digs and 50 assists, while Hannah Perez came up with 24 digs and Seyla Boothe had 10 digs.
