Geneva School of Boerne fought off a sweep against St. Mary’s Hall Tuesday to open the 2026 volleyball season but eventually dropped the match in four games.

The Lady Barons took the first two games, but the Eagles bounced back to win the third game before falling in four sets.

St. Mary’s Hall won the match, 25-21, 25-14, 24-26, 25-16.

The Eagles were trailing by two points in the third set, 23-21 but scored the next two points to tie it at 23-23. The Barons tallied the next point to pull ahead 24-23, but again, Geneva tied it at 24-24, forcing a timeout from St. Mary’s Hall.

Geneva closed it out by earning the next two points to avoid the sweep and force a fourth game that the Lady Barons won.

The Eagles start the year at 0-1 and are scheduled to play in the Wimberley tournament this weekend that started Thursday and concludes Saturday. Geneva visits Johnson City on Tuesday as they continue non-district play.
