Shades of Joe McCarthy
Editor, In response to Rich Sena’s Aug. 9 column, “Communism Making Alarming Inroads,” thanks so much for your alarming article about communism making inroads. Just when I thought it was safe to bring down my fear level, now socialists are morphing into communists. And I’d been alarmed about fascists for the past several years.
Where is Joe McCarthy when we need him? Thanks for raising my fear level higher again.

GOP scare tactics
Editor, Responding to Rich Sena’s Aug. 9 “Right of Center” column: I am a Democrat. I am not a communist.
I love Social Security and Medicare, both Democratic socialist ideas that have affected and helped save millions of lives.
Republicans are using this scare word because they have failed the American people and need a way to distract your attention.
The current high cost of living is not a result of Democratic policies but are the results of the Republican party’s failed policies.
