Abel Sanchez Hernandez
d., June 22, 2026
Abel Sanchez Hernandez came to live in the Sisterdale/Kendalia area in 1990 and lived with the Mack Arnold family beginning in April of that year. He passed away on June 22, 2026, in an Austin hospital with his family by his side.
Guanajuato Mexico was home to the Hernandez’ family. The relatives lived on a ranch when Abel was born. Abel’s mother passed away shortly after his birth, so he was raised by his father, sister, and brothers. He was privileged to attend school and had a teacher that took extra time with him.
Abel did not speak English but quickly accomplished the language translation, which helped him all through his career. Living with the Arnolds provided opportunities to work for other neighbors in the vicinity.
He worked for a nearby horse ranch and became interested in miniature horses. Consequently, the Arnolds raised four miniature horses.
He worked for the Paniolo Wedding and Event Center for 20 years, and whenever he spoke of his work, it was clear that he took great pride and personal ownership in all he did. Abel never let you down. If you were preparing for a party, it didn’t matter if it was 2 people or 30 people Abel wanted everything to look nice and that his work was top-notch. He was a good man with strong morals and integrity that earned your respect.
Abel is survived by his brother Angel Sanchez Hernandez, sister-in-law Auralia, sister Sarafina Sanches Hernandez, his niece Carolina Artega and her husband Pedro, his nephew Andres, and grandniece, Denice, grandnephews Pedrito and Angel. Abel has two sons, Kothan and Javel.
A celebration of life will be held at the Paniolo at 11 a.m. Aug. 29.
