Boerne Champion made its annual trip to Abilene to participate in the 2026 Bev Ball Classic volleyball tournament.

The tourney includes 24 high schools, divided into eight pools of three teams each. The winner of each pool advanced to the Gold Bracket to compete for the tourney title.

Champion was in Pool C with Holliday and Andrews and swept both schools. The Chargers topped Holliday, 27-25, 25-16 and defeated Andrews, 25-20, 26-24.

In bracket play, Champion clubbed Cooper, 25-21, 25-12, and then crushed Krum, 25-17, 25-16, to start the tourney at 4-0 and advance to the championship game.

Champion finished second at the tourney after they fell to Midland in the championship game, 25-20, 25-16.

The Chargers are 5-2 overall and played at Reagan on Tuesday. They are in the Pieper Warrior tourney this weekend and then host their first home match on Aug. 25 against Clark.

At the tourney, Brielle Boothe was named to the all-tournament team, while Brady Cooksey was named Best Setter and Finley Weikle was selected as the Best Hitter.
