The Comfort High volleyball team was entered in the Wimberley Tex-Fest Tournament last weekend and played eight matches that were all best-of-three instead of the typical best-of-five matches.
Comfort won two of those matches and went 2-6 at the tournament. The Deer are 3-6 overall and hosted Center Point and Bandera in a tri-match Tuesday. Matches were at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m. On the first day of the tourney last Thursday, Comfort fell to Johnson City, 25-15, 25-8, but bounced back to the Alamo Heights JV, 25-17, 27-25, before dropping a close one to Hill Country Christian, 25-23, 25-20.
The Deer also played three matches on Friday and dropped all three. Comfort lost to Peaster, 25-11, 25-10, fell to Glen Rose after taking the first set, 20-25, 25-9, 25-17 and lost to Canton, 25-22, 25-11.
Comfort returned for the final day of the tourney last Saturday and played two more matches. The Deer went three sets with Dominic Savio and lost the match that was decided by seven combined points, 27-25, 25-27, 25-22.
The Deer closed it out with a three-set win over Lampasas. Comfort claimed the victory, 25-19, 23-25, 27-25.
