The Boerne Champion water polo teams were entered in the Northside ISD Waterpolopalooza tournament held last Thursday through Saturday in San Antonio.
The Champion boys team went 4-2 at the event, while the Lady Chargers posted a 3-3 mark at the tourney. Up next, Champion is scheduled to play in the Texas Cup being held in Lewisville this week, Aug. 20-22.
In boys action, the Chargers won their first four matches before dropping their last two. They beat Alamo Heights, 16-8, and defeated Strake Jesuit, 21-8, on the first day. Champion returned on Friday and conquered Clear Falls, 20-3, before beating Brennan, 15-5.
Saturday was the final day of the event and the boys dropped their two matches against Clear Creek, 12-11, and Hebron, 8-6.
On the girls side, the Lady Chargers beat Alamo Heights, 11-6, and then defeated St. Agnes, 12-11, to close out the first day. Champion dropped both matches on Friday and fell to Clear Falls, 12-6, and lost to Hebron, 18-5.
Champion returned on Saturday and split their two matches. They were tripped up by Westlake, 8-2, and closed it out with a 15-11 win over Clear Creek.
