Rattlers strike against Lady Chargers

Boerne Champion visited Reagan High School on Tuesday night for a non- district volleyball match in San Antonio and fell to the Lady Rattlers in four sets.

Reagan claimed the 25- 17, 24- 26, 25- 20, 25-21 victory and dropped the Chargers to 5-3 overall. Champion was coming off a second-place finish at the Bev Ball tournament in Abilene last week.

Champion is entered in another tourney this weekend and plays in the Pieper Warrior Tournament.

They face Laredo United, Harlingen South and Harlan on the first day of pool play.

Hannah Perez led the Chargers with 12 kills on Tuesday, Finley Weikle added 10 kills and Lileyan Rounds had 9 kills.

Champion served well and dropped in 11 aces and was paced by Brielle Boothe in that area after Boothe tallied three aces, while Weikle and Aleah Ramirez both served up two aces apiece.

Olivia Sansone and Perez blocked one shot each, Boothe came up with 15 digs, Perez added nine digs and Brady Cooksey recorded seven digs and paced the team with 34 assists.

At the Bev Ball tourney in Abilene, Finley Weikle was selected as Best Hitter, Brielle Booth was named to the all-tournament team and Brady Cooksey was voted Best Setter.

The Champion volleyball team is coming off a second-place finish at the Bev Ball tournament last weekend and played in San Antonio on Tuesday against Reagan.
