Geneva football team rolls in season opener

HALLETTSVILLE - The Geneva School of Boerne looked impressive in its season opener Friday night in Hallettsville when the Eagles took on Sacred Heart to open the 2026 season.

Geneva beat Sacred Heart 48-6 to start the season at 1-0. They'll be in Boerne this coming Friday for their home opener against Natalia, 7 p.m.

The Eagles were up 24-0 with 3:25 remaining in the first quarter and took a 48-0 lead into halftime after forcing three turnovers in that first quarter. The game went to a running clock at the end of the third quarter and the Geneva starters were removed from the game.

Geneva's defense forced five turnovers in the first half and only gave up one late TD. Shae McNew tallied two defensive touchdowns in the game.

Eagles QB Caleb Quitadamo totaled four touchdowns after he threw for two TDs and ran for two more scores, while Chase Doran caught two receiving TDs.

Geneva's first-year coach Adam Foren said they played well in their opener.

"I couldn't be more proud of our players and staff for showing up and taking the fight to an opponent from the opening whistle, a week earlier than teams are used to playing," he said.

Foren is referring to the fact that TAPPS, their governing body, moved up the start of the regular season by a week so they can be done with their season by the end of November.
