Book Fest panel to include authors ‘Obsessed With Texas’

The Writers’ League of Texas is always well represented at the Boerne Book Festival, with their members selling books on site. They are the largest literary organization in Texas, and you’ll find them set up on the festival grounds behind the library, on Oct. 3.

In addition, their “Obsessed with Texas” panel discussion features up-and-coming writers each year.

For the 2026 Boerne Book Festival, three novelists with books set in Texas will be talking about their new works at 2 p.m. in the library’s community room. Jess Cannon will discuss her debut cozy mystery, “A Zoom with a View,” about a photographer moving back to her hometown near Austin and stumbling onto a murder through her new work in real estate photography. The action in this novel takes place over the July Fourth holiday.

Drew Buxton is the author of the brand-new novel, “Daytona Teddy Riggs.” This book is set in Corpus Christi and Houston during the 1990s, and follows Teddy, a former football player who is determined to become the world’s strongest man.

Lucas Schaefer is the author of the new novel “The Slip,” which is partially set in Austin at a boxing gym during the 1990s. It involves the disappearance of a young boy, and a family member trying to solve this mystery a decade later.

Award-winning novelist James Wade will moderate this panel discussion for us.

Some of the other writing organizations present at the festival will be the Sisters-in-Crime mystery authors, the San Antonio Sci-Fi and Fantasy Writers, and the South Texas Authors of Romance.
