Lady Chargers defeat McCollum in straight sets

Boerne Champion hosted McCollum on Tuesday in a district volleyball match and swept the Cowgirls in three sets.

The Chargers won Tuesday’s home match, 25-15, 25-23, 25-17, and improved to24-6 overall and 4-0 in district.

On Friday, Champion visited Boerne High and will host Alamo Heights Tuesday to close out the first round of 26-5A action. Friday's winner between the Chargers and Greyhounds will be the only undefeated team left in district since both entered at 4-0. The Chargers begin the second round of district at John Jay on Oct. 2.

In Tuesday’s match, Brady Cooksey finished with 9 kills, while Brielle Boothe and Hannah Perez both recorded 6 kills each. Olivia Sansone had 5 kills and Finley Weikle added 4 kills.

Aleah Ramirez dropped in 4 aces and Boothe had 2 aces, while Sansone came up with 2 blocks. Boothe recorded 17 digs, Cooksey had 13 digs and 23 assists, while Perez finished with 7 digs.
