Boerne Champion continued 26-5A volleyball action Tuesday night at Charger Gym against Harlandale.

The Lady Chargers defeated the Lady Indians, 25-18, 25-14, 25-6 and improved to 27-7 overall and 7-1 in district.

Champion was off Friday and resumes district play on Tuesday at home against South San.

They’ll visit McCollum on Oct. 16 and then host Boerne High on Oct. 20 before closing out the regular season on Oct. 23 at Alamo Heights.

Boerne High was off Tuesday and is currently sitting in first place at 7-0 in 26-5A and handed the Lady Chargers their only loss in district through the first round.

Champion was hit with some injuries in the first round and hopes to be at full strength by the time they play against the Lady Greyhounds in a match that could decide this year’s district title.

In Tuesday’s match, Brielle Boothe led the team with 11 kills, Olivia Sansone recorded 9 kills, Hannah Perez added 5 kills and Sydney Hass and Abby Marizcurrena had 4 kills each, while Hass also recorded 2 blocks.

Brady Cooksey finished with 24 assists and 12 digs and recently reached 500 career digs at Champion and celebrated the accomplishment with a team picture afterwards. Aleah Ramirez came up with 9 digs and Perez added 8 digs.

Tessa McGowan dropped in 3 aces, while Boothe and Cooksey tallied 2 aces as well.
