BOERNE — Highview Veterinary Hospital, a privately owned, family-operated, full-service veterinary hospital, officially opened its doors Oct. 5 at 5 Coughran Road, suite 105 in Boerne.
The practice is owned and led by husband-and-wife veterinarians Dr. Amelia Rauch and Dr. Mike Rauch, who created it to offer pet owners in Boerne and the surrounding Hill Country a more personal, connected approach to veterinary care.
“We started Highview because we believe the best veterinary care happens when the doctor, the pet, and the owner are all part of the same conversation,” said Dr. Amelia Rauch. “Your pet is family, and you should never feel shut out of their care.”
At Highview, pets and their owners are rarely, if ever, separated during a visit. Most exams, treatments and procedures take place right in the exam room, with the owner beside their pet.
This process, Rauch said, keeps animals calmer and gives owners a clear view of their pet’s care. It also lets the doctors explain findings and answer questions as they work.
“We want every client to feel known when they walk through the door,” said Dr. Mike Rauch. “As a family- run practice, we’re not just serving the community, we’re part of it. Building lasting relationships with the people and pets of Boerne is the heart of what we do.”
The couple met as classmates at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated together in 2020. Since then, they have practiced across Texas and abroad in England, gaining a broad range of skills and experience that they now bring to Highview.
Highview Veterinary Hospital offers full-service care for the whole life of a pet, including wellness exams and vaccinations, preventive care, dental care, diagnostics, surgery, and sick and injury care.
The hospital, staffed by a team of six, including the two owner-veterinarians, is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Accepting new clients, appointments can be made by calling 830-470-8414 or by visiting highviewvets.com.
The couple has called Boerne home for the past two years and is raising two young sons, ages 2 years and 5 months, in the community.
The Boerne Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon- cutting ceremony for Highview Veterinary Hospital at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 13 at the practice. The public is invited to attend.
