Cozy autumn fiction reads at Heath Library

THE BOOKWORM

This time of year, almost the first thing I want to do upon settling down at home is to change into pajamas, fix a cup of tea, and curl up with a good cozy mystery or fiction read, especially if the titles are set around bookstores, or libraries.

Here are two of my recent reads, if you’d like to check them out.

* “Chaos at the Lazy Bones Bookshop” is the first in a mystery series by Emmeline Duncan.

This book is set in a small town in Oregon, where the locals have leaned into a famous horror movie being filmed there, and all the small businesses are Halloween-themed.

Bailey Briggs is the main character and runs The Lazy Bones Bookshop. The story is set right before Halloween, during a literary festival.

Chaos ensues when a ghost hunter show comes to town, and Bailey finds the star of the show dead in a hay maze. This autumnthemed book is available to read with the Cloud Library app, and there are three books in the series.

* “Autumn at the Cat Café” is a light romance set in another small town, this time in Ohio.

Octavia Dalton runs Pawsitive Vibes, a successful cat café, where customers can come in for coffee and cat cuddles, and adopt the cats in the café.

Her eccentric older neighbor that runs Second Chapter Books passes away suddenly, before being able to leave Octavia the bookstore, as he’d planned. A young relative comes in to take over and must be convinced of the value in his uncle’s very eclectic bookstore.

There is a fun autumn bucket list included in this story, and it can be read through E-read Texas, in the Cloud Library app. Have fun reading this season and stop in the library if you need any suggestions.

LIBRARY CALENDAR * Monday, Oct. 19, noon: The Food for Thought Book Group will meet to discuss “The Correspondent,” by Virginia Evans.

* Thursday, Oct. 22, 1:30 p.m.: The Drawing Club will meet in the conference room.

* Friday, Oct. 23, at 10 a.m. and Saturday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m.: Tai Chi with Lavada Smith, in the Community Room.
