Attendees say they had a doggone good time
Dozens of four-legged pets donned their Halloween best Saturday in support of Barktoberfest, the sixth annual fundraiser to benefit the Hill Country Animal League.
The Oktoberfest-inspired festival at Main Plaza featured a variety of vendors and activities, including Five-Star Bath Solutions, a petting zoo provided by Happy Tails, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, Crumbl Cookies, raffle prizes, music and pet adoptions through Animal Ark, Pause for Paws and the Texas Roundup Animal Alliance.
“Every dollar raised helps provide surgeries, vaccines and affordable care for local pets and families.”
— Hill Country Animal League The morning of Oct. 17 also featured a Doggy Dash, sponsored in part by H-E-B, and a costume contest.
Decked out as everything from hot dogs to Buzz Lightyear, the dogs in their costumes did not disappoint, attendees said.
“The costumes, the races, the cheering — we’ll be replaying this one for a while,” a Facebook post from the HCAL read. “Thank you to everyone who made today possible. We’re already counting down to next year!”
Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit HCAL’s spay and neuter program.
“Every dollar raised helps provide surgeries, vaccines and affordable care for local pets and families,” HCAL stated.
HCAL also thanked the event’s sponsors, including Boerne Air Conditioning, Ginny Thompson with State Farm, Fair Oaks Emergency Room, Thrive Pet Healthcare San Antonio, Urgent Care, Frost Bank, CommuniCare, H-E-B, Raising Cane’s, Boerne Veterinary Clinic, Power Home Remodeling, The UPS Store in Leon Springs, D.R.
