Hounds hammer Hawks in district opener

The Boerne High boys basketball team opened district play Friday night at Canyon Lake and soared past the Hawks in the 28-4A opener, 65-33.

The Boerne High boys basketball team opened district play Friday night at Canyon Lake and soared past the Hawks in the 28-4A opener, 65-33.

Boerne High starts league play at 1-0 and is 18-6 overall. The Hounds host Fredericksburg Tuesday at Greyhound Gym as they continue league play.

BHS took control early in Friday’s game and was leading 23-4 by the end of the first quarter.

The Hawks played better in the second but Boerne still outscored them 18-10 and took a 41-14 advantage into halftime.

Boerne also won the third quarter by four points, 15-11, to open up a 56-25 lead as the game went to the fourth.

In the final period, the Greyhounds made it a complete sweep and won all four quarters after they outscored the Hawks in the fourth period, 9-8.
