TOMORROW! Fine Arts instruction with Shea Daniel Youngblood, and her Introduction to en plein air, Monday, July 31st, 9:30am to Noon. Join Shea as she explains and demonstrates how to capture the spirit and essence of a landscape by incorporating natural light, color and movement into your works. While this is a beginner’s class, and the objective is to introduce you to key points to keep in mind as you take your creativity outdoors, we welcome plein air artists who are interested in guidance from a seasoned pro. *This class will be held outdoors on the Museum property.
August 3, 9:30am--Noon Introduction to Drawing, Shea Daniel-Youngblood; Thursday, August 3rd, 9:30am to Noon. This class is designed to develop and expand one’s observational abilities and rendering skills. Shea will demonstrate how to describe objects in terms of line, shape, volume, proportion, perspective and composition.
August 5, 10am--1pm -- Introduction to Oil (using Brush and Knife), a la prima, Pauly Tamez; Saturday, August 5th, 10am--3pm. Join Pauly as he demonstrates how to create an oil painting from start to finish using the a la prima method; i.e., the wet-on-wet technique. You will be shown how to paint quickly and with purpose using both a painting knife and brush techniques.
August 12, 1--5pm -- Introduction to Pastel, Mary McIntosh Mary will bring new ideas and techniques for one of the oldest mediums that Monet, Van Gogh and Toulouse-Lautrec used in their time. Different options used with pastels will be demonstrated... mark making and blending to name two. Pastel products will be discussed because so many are available...hard, medium, and soft in texture. Underpainting will be demonstrated. Papers will be discussed...sanded surface versus pastel paper that has no 3D surface. Everyone will be given one-on-one time in an effort to answer all questions that may arise.
