* Texas Retired Teachers Association fall conference beginning at 10 a.m. in the Cana Ballroom at St Peter’s Catholic Church, 202 W. Kronkosky St. in Boerne. Join fellow retired teachers at this fall conference featuring vendors, AMBA representatives, a TRS presentation, and a memorial service.

* The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1:30 p.m. at TTS Research, 1420 River Road Ste. 100, to celebrate the research facility’s 20th anniversary.

* The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. at Richter Event Space, 153 S. Main St., to celebrate the restaurant’s new event space.

* The Boerne Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas will work with the city of Boerne, volunteers from the Native Plant Society and Texas Master Naturalist members to plant 50 5-gallon trees, native /indigenous to the Hill Country area, in the Boerne City Campus Nature area (BCCNA) behind the Patrick Health Public Library. Beginning at 9 a.m., the area will be cleared, and planting of the trees will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday.

October 27

* Today is the final day to buy tickets for the Hill Country Mission for Health “Horses for Health” Kentucky Derby-style raffle fundraiser. The first-place winner will receive a Grandstand Blue experience for two at the 150th Annual Kentucky Derby in May 2024.

* The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. at the Corrival Ranch, 1106 Sisterdale Road, to celebrate the opening of the new equestrian facility.

* Third annual Boerne Spooktacular at the Agri-Cultural Museum and Arts Center from 5-9 p.m. Friday and 34-9 p.m. Saturday. A family-friendly Halloween event; each child will be given a trick-or-treat bag and a glow stick bracelet upon entering. Hayride, spooky train ride for kids, pinata bash, and goblin cornhole are part of the fun. Area 51 will have costume contests for all ages and a Halloween dance party with music by their out-of-thisworld DJ. * Third Annual KCFA Haunted House at the Kendall County Fairgrounds, open 6-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Prepared to get your pants scared off at the Kendall County Fair Queen's Court's annual Haunted House fundraiser. Family fun for all. $5 admission.

* “Dracula Bites” opens at the Boerne Community Theater, 907 E. Blanco Road. This is the stage version of Bram Stroker’s classic novel Dracula. Tickets are available at: www. boernetheater.org.

* 35th annual South Texas All British Car Day from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Main Plaza. Enjoy the beautiful cool weather and look at all the British made automobiles south Texas has to offer. Free to attend and awards will be given.

* St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church Fall Fest, 9 a.m. to noon. Featuring games, food, raffle items, and trunk or treat, which will include the 11 a.m. visit from Boerne Police Department and Boerne Fire Department.

* Halloween Hustle 5K has a 10 a.m. start-time at the Fair Oaks Ranch Golf and Country Club, 7900 Fair Oaks Parkway in Fair Oaks Ranch. Put on a Halloween costume, and come contribute to a brighter future for foster youth. Open to walkers and runners.

* The Kendall County Historical Commission holds a Texas Historical Commission marker unveiling at 10 a.m. for the historic Wren Cemetery, 50 Spring Creek Road. A post-Civil War African American cemetery, it was named for a former slave, Alex Wren, who owned the land upon which the cemetery is plotted.
