Officials ID man pulled from Boerne City Lake Sunday

Officials have identified a man who drowned Saturday in Boerne City Lake.

Chris Shadrock, Boerne director of communications, said Jorge Zavala, 40, of the Leon Springs area, spent Saturday afternoon and evening fishing at the lake, complained of being hot and entered the water to cool down.

Evidently unaware of the underwater elevation change, Shadrock said the man reached an area of deep water, went under the surface, and began shouting for help.
