Christopher Michael Hudson

Beloved husband, father and son, Air Force Colonel (retired) Christopher Michael Hudson MD, MPH, CPE, of Durango, Colorado, was called home to be with our Lord Sept. 19 in a tragic car accident. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and the Harvard University School of Public Health, Chris served in the Air Force for 22 years before his retirement in 2020. He most recently served as the Commander of the Barksdale Medical Group at Barksdale Air Force Base. Following his Air Force career, Chris served as the Chief Medical Officer at Mercy Medical Center in Durango, Colorado, until April 2022.

A servant to his core, Chris proudly served his country and the Durango community with dedication to his Christian faith. He was an extraordinarily caring and loving husband and father. The family traveled the world together, living in Chris’ beloved Germany plus assignments in Albuquerque, San Antonio and Shreveport. Mountain biker, hiker, golfer, skier and snowboarder, Chris loved nature and the mountains. An avid Cardinals fan, Chris just missed Albert Pujols’ 400th home run. He loved the San Antonio Spurs and the Green Bay Packers, making him the most random sports team fan of all time. An ‘80s hair metal fan and nacho connoisseur, he had a penchant for giant ‘70s cars and his beloved 1975 Ford truck.

He is survived by his wife, Christiana Hudson, and two sons, George and August, of Durango; his parents, Bob and Nancy Hudson, and his sister Olivia and her husband Brandon Jenkins, all of Boerne, Texas. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Currey Creek Church in Boerne, Texas on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 10 a.m. followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Chris’ name to Siloam Health, www. siloamhealth. org.
