Friday’s second-round matchup between Boerne High and Iowa Colony from Alvin featured two state-ranked teams going at it, but the game didn’t really live up to the hype after the Greyhounds dominated and ran away with the victory.
The No. 7 Hounds defeated the No. 11 Pioneers, 54-32, and advanced to the third round of the 4A playoffs. The Boerne boys faced La Vernia Tuesday at Judson, 7 p.m. in the regional quarterfinals.
Iowa Colony is a new school, and the team had a lot of freshman and sophomores, while the Greyhounds have tons of playoff experience after winning the region the last two years and that experience showed after the first quarter.
