Man sentenced in burglary of granddad’s home

A Boerne man investigated in the burglary of his grandfather’s Fair Oaks Ranch home is headed to prison after being handed an eight-year sentence, prosecutors said.

Evan Trapasso, 27, on May 8 pleaded guilty in the 451st state District Court in connection with a break-in Jan. 13 at the home of Frank Trapasso, identified as the defendant’s grandfather.

The elder Trapasso reported the burglary, which occurred sometime during the night, after discovering a broken window indicating an intruder forced his way into the residence.

While responding to the burglary call, a Fair Oaks Ranch officer encountered a man wearing several layers of clothing walking along the 300 block of Ammann Road while carrying two bags.

Both bags appeared to be full; one was a small camouflage duffel bag, and the other was a gray canvas tote, according to investigators.

The man denied being involved in the break-in and declined a request to search his bags.

The homeowner came to the location where officers held the man with the bags and identified a leather jacket and a flannel shirt the man wore as items lifted from his residence.

A search of the bags revealed more items belonging to the victim, including antique watches, picture frames, pens and books.

During the investigation, other items belonging to the victim were discovered in the 300 and 400 blocks of Ammann Road, including a laptop power cord, food and clothing.

The victim later reported several silver collector’s coins and a laptop remained missing. He also found a suitcase with more of his belongings, which he suspected the thief intended to take.

Assistant Criminal District Attorney Alessandra Deike prosecuted the case.
